Section 16
Certificate of Vehicle Registration

(1) If an application is made for registering a vehicle in accordance with Section 15, the authorized officer shall, after conducting the necessary investigation, register such vehicle in the name of the applicant and issue a certificate of registration in the format as per Schedule-3. However, except in the name of national and international associations established for social, religious, charitable and educational purposes and organized organizations established in accordance with prevailing laws, vehicles with more than fourteen seats and four tons or more gross weight shall not be registered as private vehicles.
(2) When registering a vehicle in the name of a minor, the name of the guardian should be mentioned in the certificate of registration and his/her name should also be corrected in the certificate of registration.
(3) When purchasing a vehicle in the certificate of registration, the gross carrying capacity of the vehicle written in the technical description of the vehicle given by the manufacturer of the vehicle should be mentioned as the weight of the vehicle, and when mentioning the weight of the vehicle, the unladen weight and the carrying capacity of the vehicle should also be mentioned separately.
(4) The certificate of registration shall be valid for one year from the date of issue.
